Lets talk a little about Navajo Rugs. There are many different styles of rugs that are woven by the Navajo. We specialize in old Navajo rugs and blankets and have many in stock. What I have pictured is a Yeibechai weaving. The Yei are religious figures, Spirit Beings, or the Navajo Holly People. There are no religious signigicance to these figures when woven. The Yeibechai are dancers, that portray the Yei or Spirit Beings. The figures are always standing sideways, the Yei when woven will always face forward. These rugs were first woven around the World War I period and were taken from sandpaintings. Yeibechai rugs will make a great colorful statement in any room, and may be placed on a wall or on the floor. Whether they are large or small ones! This small rug is 24 3/4" long X 18 1/2" high. Price is $350.00

If you collect dolls or folk art, this is for you! This is a very charming piece of folk art by our local people, the Tohono O'Odham or People of the Desert. The doll is of a woman caring a Khia or burden basket (work basket). It was not uncommon for the women to walk from the San Xavier Mission area to down town caring a khia full of heavy hand made pots to sell. The khia are very rare items, there are not many in existence today. Stop in at the Gallery and let us show you a real one from the mid to late 1800's. The doll was made by Chepa Franco and sells for $350.00

A fun way to decorate is with Folk Art. These pieces are always hand made, everyone just a little different. We have a really cool Yarn painting from the Huichol Indians of Mexico. These people live in the remote Sierra Madres ranges. Their art comes from a life of magic and scared mythology. The Huichol remain unaffected by Western cultures. The Yarn painting measures 24" X 24", price $225.00
